Mr. President, Put Up or Shut Up.

During the campaign for president and the first few weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama was adamant about the War in Afghanistan as "The war worth fighting" when it came to terror. And in many ways, he was correct. However, the Presidents reliance and trust in the Generals that run the wars has never been all well and dandy.

As a senator, Obama opposed the surge in Iraq that made the unwinnable war there winnable. And now, despite the escalating tensions in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan we learn that he has only met with the leading US General in Afghanistan, Gen. McChrystal, once.

Just once.

From CBS:
“I’ve talked to the president, since I’ve been here, once on a VTC [video teleconference],” General Stanley McChrystal told CBS reporter David Martin in a television interview that aired Sunday.

“You’ve talked to him once in 70 days?” Mr. Martin followed up.

“That is correct,” the general replied.

I don't know what is more stunning, the fact that Obama is making his way to Copenhagen to appeal to the Olympics Committee to bring the 2016 games to Chicago while all this is going down or the President spoke to the General once in SEVENTY days. Your call.

Look at it this way: How many times have you seen Obama on David Letterman in the past months? How many times have you seen the President with NBC, CBS, ABC and giving interviews and swatting a fly? Exactly how many speeches in the past 70 days has Obama given throughout the country on various issues? Then remember how many times Obama has talked to the man on the front lines, fighting to keep another terrorist attack off US soil.

Just once.

The chief argument against this outrageous revelation is that "the President can't possibly do everything at once!" You're right, but that's no excuse. That's why the President is delegating control to McChrystal and Obama isn't running the war by himself. And the man he's delegated power to has seen him once, over what was probably a choppy video feed.

Even more stunning? Obama called Afghanistan a "top priority" when it was popular to say so, and the Iraq War was in full swing. Now that the war in Afghanistan is losing popularity, Obama is losing interest. Funny how that works. He's even gone so far as shelving McChrystal's request for more troops that the General feels is necessary to win the war.

Mr. President, you are not campaigning anymore. You are President. You cannot simply ignore something and hope it goes away, and you can't leave our Generals and troops out to dry, they don't deserve it and even your toughest critics thought you were better than that. Prove that you are the man you claim to be. Otherwise, how many times are you going to be elected?

Just once.
